Stikwood Introduces Innovative Plankprints Collection
Inspired by Aged, Weathered, Hand Painted Museum Woodwork that is Hundreds of Years Old
SACRAMENTO, CALIF. (April 2016) – Stikwood, the world’s first peel-and-stik real wood wall covering, introduces their groundbreaking new Plankprints Collection. The Plankprints Collection launches with seven new products including Azul, Freya, Mod Squad, Victoria, Victoria Vandyke, Vine and Weathered Mod Squad.
The exclusive patterns are timeless and historical, carefully imprinted onto wooden planks, remaining true to the beauty of the original design while preserving the original beauty of wood. Achieving the perfect balance and harmony between the interplay of the wood and design.
Jerry McCall, co-founder of Stikwood, was inspired to create Plankprints while visiting the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art’s Ca’ d’Zan mansion located in Sarasota, Florida. “While touring, I caught a glimpse of an older area in the Ca’ d’Zan that was being remodeled,” states McCall. “This section of the museum featured a lot of hidden hand painted woodwork inside from hundreds of years ago that featured a sort of worn out design. The distinctive painted pattern and the rare aged wood together created this inherent look that I was immediately drawn to and wanted to re-create.”
Stikwood uses the latest techniques in high quality digital imaging, imprinting each design with millions of drops of color made with non-toxic ink that is eventually cured with light, enabling a completely VOC-free process. The meticulously cut 5″ wide by 40″ long planks are 3/16″ thick and retail between $12 and $16 per square foot. Each plank boasts the revolutionary Peel-and-Stik adhesive that makes Stikwood easy to install on any wall, regardless of level of expertise.
