MENSWEAR HABERDASHERY: ALEXANDER JULIAN FOR FREDERICK COOPER
June 2012, Rocky Mount, NC -From fashion to furniture, Alexander Julian’s design vision is is to unify the best tenets of tradition with modernity and aspirational good taste for figures and foyers alike.
His Award winning style is informed by fashion’s “fast track”, where he and his wife Meagan learn which ideas work best, and are timeless. “Home furnishings are not gender specific” says Alex, “they need to appeal to both women and men simultaneously”.
An Internationally renowned colorist, Alex’s main inspiration is Nature. “I’ve spent my career trying to bring the beauty of the natural world inside”, says Julian. Alex and Meagan translate their dynamic vision into accent lamps withstyle and ease. His Couture collection for Frederick Cooper features his well-known influence of ready to wear for lamps that utilize signature silk designs, sartorial textiles, and his apparel concepts into every lighting piece. With just the right amount of tailored touches, these unique and original lamps will be treasured by many for years to come.
TROY 65356-2 TROY 65356-2
“Troy’s” base design is inspired by a beautiful ancient Greek amphora. The unique oxidized nickel finish references Alex’s original signature blazer buttons for men and women. The lustrous Julian signature stripe trim speaks quietly but eloquently to the intersections of urbanity and Nature. Timeless fashion.
SAVILE 65069
Which fabric weave is synonymous with ultimate versatility, timeless good taste, great style, and humble organic natural beginnings? Herringbone of course! Alex and Meagan have transformed the Sartorial classic into a new icon of stylish lighting decor. Sculpturally cast with intricate dimension and detail in “always chic” gray, the fashion bonus is bold brass contrast, adding both striking visual impact, and decor sensitive opportunities.
SILVER PAISLEY 65361
“Alexander Julian” and “paisley” have been used in the same sentence for many years in many ways. A classic silver cylinder is the latest example. “Paisley is a perfect example of the overlap of design iconography between what appeals to women, what appeals to men, and is always fashionable” says Julian. This mirror like finish is “gentrified” with the simple organic curves of a historic paisley. This works well to brighten up a corner, day or night.
SARTORIA 65100
This sartoria(l) creation was certainly named with good reason. A direct translation of Julian’s fashion style, it epitomizes his appreciation for all things couture. A distinctly ornate base with a dramatic sweeping neck speaks volume against the Bauhaus elegant multi-herringbone shade. This dynamic pairing of a masculine shade and feminine base embodies the definition of “modern traditional.” Cool shades of whites, greys, and blacks allow the Sartoria to adapt to various interior styles.
NOLITA 65101 & 65101-2
While it shares the Sartoria’s candlestick silhouette, the Nolita tells a much different story. Embracing the energy of dynamic neckties, eye-catching shoes, and asked about cufflinks, the Nolita adds the perfect pop of color to an old-fashioned varnished study or brownstone foyer. As is the case with Julian’s clothing, the fear of color is a thing of the past when executed with tasteful know-how. “Multi colors, when they emulate Nature, provide a myriad of opportunities for easy coordination” according to “Master Colorist” Alexander Julian.
